Wanderlust Wednesday :: Cafayate, Salta, Argentina

For some reason, Argentina has always enchanted me.  I really have no idea why or where it came from. I can’t really explain most of my random obsessions.  Maybe I saw something in my Spanish book in high school or heard about the gauchos and fell in love, but whatever the reason, I felt it appropriate to feature this sometimes looked over country.

Cafayate lies at the foot of the Andes mountains in the northern part of Argentina.  Nearby, is the Calchaqui Valley.  It is known for it’s range of different geographies from mountain desert to forest.  As you travel along the valley, the land changes before you.  It would be an amazing site to see.

Some travel sites have described it as “sleepy town of [that] has donkeys grazing on the central plaza and heaps of unlocked bicycles outside schools and churches”.  Now, if that doesn’t sound wonderful, you probably should try to enjoy life more…

Anyways, Cafayate is also famous for it’s wines and vineyards.  What is more magical than sipping an Argentinian wine at the foot of the Andes.
