music monday :: Alt-J (∆)

Something a little different for this week’s dose of music.

This band’s name is stylized as ∆, which happens when you type alt + j on your Mac keyboard.  A little pretentious? Maybe.  But, you have to admit, it’s pretty clever.

Anyways, this British quartet is some quirky indie pop loveliness.  It’s got a nice little groove to it, really mellow.  I can’t quite pin down what it reminds me of, and that just adds to the mystery of it.  Sometime it sounds like hip hop, sometimes it sounds like eletro-pop, sometimes I have no idea what it sounds like.

This first video is a twist of Raphael’s ‘The School of Athens’ painting, set in gangsta’s paradise.  Crazy awesome.

And how trippy is this video?!

magic.
