a love affair with the deep south

Recently, I have been mildly obsessed with the deep south, especially since I have visited Savannah.  I hope to make it to New Orleans very soon and I can imagine that I will fall in love with that city too.

There’s just something special about the people and the way of life.  It truly is very different than life even in Nashville and definitely a lot different than growing up in Northwest Indiana.

It has a haze about it that is dreamy, yet exhilarating.  You feel at home and off in a faraway land at the same time.

The people try to catch your glance instead of avoid it. They will talk to everyone and anyone without prejudice.  You can tell that they are proud of where they came from.  They have storied they are just dying to share.

It’s so hard for me to put into words, you just have to visit there and see for yourself.

This is a screen shot from the Disney “The Princess and the Frog” which takes place in New Orleans… yes, it’s a cartoon, but it still captures the magic of the South.

So so magical in the Bayou. (via weheartit)

*Swoon* I feel faint from all the beauty.
